Vacation!!!!

I've been vacationing in New Hampshire since I was a little girl.
It never gets old or boring and now my kids love it too!

Take the Pledge

2 month pledge
The Pledge
I Deb Chase pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of "new" manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 2 / 4 / 6 months. I pledge that i shall refashion, renovate, recycle preloved items for myself with my own hands in fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of my contract. I pledge that I will share the love and post a photo of my refashioned, renovoted, recycled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog, so that others may share the joy that thy thriftiness brings! Ride to Rohan

Fabric bracelet made from t-shirts. Hand sewn free form spirals, some beads, and the really cool button that inspired it.

The bottom layer is a black t-shirt scrap about twice the length of the bracelet and centered. It was sewn on last to mask all of the stitches from the appliques and beading. Then the ends were cut to make ties.

The white spirals are reverse applique (there is a layer of white sandwiched between two layers of blue) All the spirals are free form, the silver thread is from Coats & Clark and very user friendly. (minimal tangles and knots, and no unraveling)

The grey spirals are small circles that are cut from the outside to the center to make a spiral. The beads came last.

All tied up and ready to wear.
This is one of my favorite ways to make small projects, no plan, almost like sketching with fabric. Sometimes the result is a total disaster, once in awhile I end up with something better than I could have planned.

Going to Gondor

This weekend I made a dress to go with my Gondor kerchief.
It's two old t-shirts, cut in half, swapped, and sewn together by hand.
The reverse applique is made from the same homemade stencil as the kerchief.
It took one and half times through the Wizard of Oz with the little ones

There is a matching grey t-shirt under the dress in the picture, I like it better than just the v-neck and may sew a piece there, or just wear it layered. Can't decide.

Blue Roses

The idea

Progress - I was stalled here for the longest time

The front - with the unplanned addition of the skull applique, courtesy of one of my sons outgrowing a t-shirt.

The back - I'm really happy with the way the roses came out, I hadn't planned on turning the applique, it was a spur of the moment decision.

Memorial Day Parade

One of our favorite parades, the local Memorial Day Parade. It's a small parade down what looks like a small country road but is really a main route. This one day of the year the fifty mile an hour traffic comes to a stop for an hour or two, the lawn chairs and blankets come out and it really is like a small country road for a little while. It's also one of the friendliest parades anywhere.

Waiting for the Parade to Start

The horses are always a favorite

a little flag waving is a good thing

You know it's summer when you can get ice cream from the ice cream truck!

Parade Bounty

and of course dogs in tutus

I think they may be required by some parade by-law. But how can you not smile?
