Winter Farmers' Market

The Winter Farmers' Market at Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket,RI.
Joe and Nellie love going to this market, especially Joe.
Joe loves to cook so much that cooking is his "I've reigned in my ADD tendencies" reward system.

We went on a Wednesday, much less crowded and way more sane than the weekend. It feels a lot more festive on the weekends, but it gets so busy it's hard to negotiate with little ones.

This is Scott, friend and farmer, we left with a big bag of root veggies from his stand, Joe picked them out with the sort of enthusiasm that most kids save for the candy store.

mmmmmm carrots. part of the root veggie haul, along with potatoes and onions. The next day Joe and I roasted them with a little olive oil, salt, paprika, and cumin, topped with chourico. yummy!

There is always music at the market, even on Wednesdays. This week the entertainment included my nephew, he's the long legs in the back.

Just to let you know how much Joe loves it, all of the pictures were taken by him.
Not too bad for five, food and pictures of food, two of his favorite things.

Yarn Play

One of a recent group of necklaces that I've made.
Inspired by a necklace in Belle Armoire a couple of years ago.

This one with a bit of a Southwest theme.

And for sale at The Greenery, in Warren, RI.
http://shopjust.com/
along with some cuff bracelets made out of wool and buttons.
Sorry for the lack of pictures. My camera is getting a bit old and tired.
If you are in the area give the Greenery a visit, the proprietor is named Bridget.
Lots of really cool gifts and flowers, specializing in fair trade goods from around the world and local artists

can be seen on Tea Rose Home too. One of my favorite sights to share my stuff on.
So give it a look. There's a button on the sidebar (couldn't make it work in the post - where's that 12 year old when I need him)

Icicles

Everyday they are a little different

at least that's what I keep telling myself

How many weeks before the crocuses start to bloom?

The icicles hanging off the eves are much prettier than the inch of ice covering my driveway. I'm beginning to think that the crocuses will have bloomed before any of the stores have icemelt back in stock.

Snow and Ice

Even the kids are getting sick of snow days.
Cloth paper and scissors and a day of freezing rain
yielded the following

a somewhat colorful paper blizzard

a very colorful outfit fit for the prettiest girl around

and a handy dandy Tardis tea towel, perfect for taking cookies out of the oven

some very red noses and some hot cocoa....
